Sorrow by name, and sorrow by nature.
Name: Tristan Drake Greenwood
Age: 20.
Gender: male
Race: Half Irish, half English.
I am the tragedy, and the heroine.
General Features: A relatively short lad, he stands at around 5’9. Naturally a very pale blonde, he usually swings between that and dyed black or bright red hair – at the moment it is dyed dark, which matches his rather dark brown eye colour.
I am lost, and I am rescuing.
Tristan’s clothing? Well… flamboyant, to say the least. He loves things that sparkle, wearing ribbons and scarves around his waist as belts. There’d be at least one thing that draws attention to him. Because the boy laps it up – attention, it appears, was made for him. His favourite particular one is a hoodie with sequins attached all over the front. He enjoys wearing a variety of shoes – boots are a favourite, but his most loved are a pair of black leather shoes that somewhat resemble ballet flats. However – they are his favourite because of their practical use for his little pastime.
His usual attire consists of a white cotton shirt beneath a red silk one, a pair of black ¾ length pants held up by black and red ribbons, and his favourite shoes.
You speak of love, but I’ve never heard of her.
Gay? He isn’t sure. The boy definitely appears to be outwardly from his clothing, but then, he’s never really had much attraction to either gender. Perhaps it will change at this new college? He isn’t sure.
Tattoos? He has one – a small unicorn the left of the small of his back.
However, the shorter height does one thing for the boy. It gives him a lower centre gravity, which is a big advantage for him. He played about with almost gymnastic activities in the past, so now he is able to do one of his favourite things. Climb up onto low lying windows using a variety of means, break, and enter.
Stuck on a line of misadventure, I fear no crime.
Personality: Personality? Where to start with this boy? Tristan was diagnosed with schizophrenia at 16 and while on medication, it does not weaken the effects of the people and things he sees and hears. Reoccurring visions include a red parrot named Jack, a very sarcastic male who encourages him to commit criminal offences named Tobias and a quiet female – Sahara - who watches him act them out. Due to his awareness of the fact he sometimes sees things; he occasionally can be a bit standoffish as he tries to work out whether the things he is seeing are real or not. He doesn’t often tell people of the mental illness – but news about such things spreads quickly. He tries his best to cover it up, but most often fails. Too often he can be seen muttering things to something that isn’t there.
Criminal offences? Tristan sure has gained a name for himself with the local constabulary.
I am the victim, and the murderer.
To date, his activities include: three assault charges, two charges of possession of illegal substances, four for breaking and entering and five charges of theft; and those are only the ones he’s been caught doing. Tristan's exact reason for his little law breaking activities isn't quite clear. When explaining it to his doting mother, he often proclaims, "The Devil made me do it" or such other slides on answering. Psychologists who've had him as a patient suspect his schizophrenia may have something to do with it - in instances where Tristan has taken part in hypnotherapy he has admitted the voices he hears suggest for him to do things.
Tristan is usually a rather happy boy, and he enjoys the company of people who don’t judge him. However – his stealing and illness does not gain him many friends. He can be quick to anger, and it really isn’t the best thing to intentionally do – remember the assault charges? ;D
Forever young, I come from God knows where.
History:
On the 23rd of October, 1986, in a small town in Ireland, the first (and only) son to the Greenwood family was born. Both Eliza and Drake Greenwood were overjoyed, eventually settling on the name Tristan Drake (from his father, obviously) Greenwood.
It wasn’t until they’d relocated to Southern London a few years later that the Greenwoods learnt Tristan’s name meant tumult, riot, or sad. This was funny, as they were certainly having trouble raising the boy.
He had been … imaginative as a child, they’d thought. He often told them about made-up friends he had, often describing them in immense detail that surprised him. They’d put up with this, thinking that it was just a phase he was going through.
However, as Tristan aged, the friends didn’t go away. New ones formed, he heard with great clarity voices – ones that people around him showed no sign of hearing.
He began to learn to hide this, becoming more and more withdrawn from his parents as he got older.
This didn’t seem to affect his father so much, who spent much of his time working on the family business. The English one of the couple, looking forward to a brighter, better, capitalistic future with his children. His Irish mother was much more concerned with raising her two children.
Secretly, Drake Greenwood was planning to move the family to America – the chances for new businesses were better there, he said. So when Tristan was 10, the family packed up and migrated to America; where businesses were greater and schooling opportunities perfect for his two children. Tristan still retains the South London, lower class English accent today.
I’m trouble, and I’m troubled too.
Which Tristan thought was great – he was having trouble at his school; people mocked him for the red parrot he was convinced followed him around, and his friend – Tobias – who they claimed was only seen by him. Tobias told him that of course he was real, and that he had to get his revenge on his peers. Tristan did this in the only way he knew how – he started fights.
Which didn’t really change when he moved to America – in fact, he found the people were crueller here. The fight reaction increased, the trouble increased, and the law got involved.
He was 15 when he was convicted for his first crime. Assault – okay, so Tobias had pushed him a little too far – he’d ended up breaking a boy’s nose at school. It wasn’t that he’d meant to hurt him, it was just like… well, it was like he was blinded, his fist connected – he had fled when he’d heard the crunch, but it was well known that it was him.
Other acts soon followed – instead of throwing himself into relationships like most boys around his age, he began acting out illegal activities, getting the most thrills from theft and breaking and entering. Like his mother said; he wasn’t really a violent boy. Those things just happened.
Sixteen and the diagnosis came. People just couldn’t work out why the slight boy was committing such acts. Part of his convictions often included psychological treatment – which led to the discovery of what was wrong with him. Schizophrenia. Tristan saw things, heard things, felt things… that were all in his mind. But oh God, they felt so real. But what was real? He knew from then on he’d never be entirely sure. Medication came, but could never stop the visions, the voices, how he sometimes forgot the Sahara, Tobias, Jack… nothing but illusions.
Tristan just managed to make his way through high school, his father basically having to beg and use all his influence to get him into schools. Managing to pass with a decent enough rates, he chose to go to the local college. Psychologically, ironically enough. To try and solve what was wrong with him once and for all.
Family:
Bridget Greenwood - sister. (aged 22): now lives in the neighbouring city. Tristan hasn't got on well with her ever since he was diagnosed - while Bridget knew there was likely something wrong with him, she dislikes the idea of having a "certified freak" as a brother.
Eliza Greenwood - mother. (aged 47): deeply loves her only son, and is very empathetic towards him for his condition. However, she has turned a blind eye to too many of his illegal activities in the past, she finds it difficult trying to curb his criminal behaviour. She still likes to believe that it isn't Tristan's fault for what he does, which is perhaps true, but fobbing off the police never helps.
Drake Greenwood - father. (aged 49): considers it hardly his duty to look after his children - that is his stay-at-home wife's job. He works incredibly hard in the business he runs, and resents Tobias' illness and misbehaviour as he fears it will reflect badly on him. Secretly he is afraid Tristan's schizophrenia is from his side of the family, and finds it difficult to talk to his son or the police who so often come to 'visit' him. He believes passionately in good education, and is determined to keep Tristan in a school.
Cos now I'm here, without a hope or care.
Major: Psychology. It’s often said a person studies psych in their attempt to understand their own problems – this is more than apparent with Tristan.
Desired Future Profession: He isn’t sure. The boy doubts he actually wants to become a psychologist – perhaps a teacher?
Favorite Class: English Literature and psychology classes.
Grade Level: Third year.
Extra:
Tristan likes: pretty clothing, stealing, the challenge of breaking and entering, skipping, ballet, dancing, talking to real people
Tristan Dislikes: Police officers, school counsellors, psychologists, hypnotherapy, confusion over realty and what is in his mind.
Picture: Pictures, lovelys! =D[/color]
